Gerry Steele grew up in Miscouche, and was educated by the Sisters of Notre-Dame de Montreal, finishing with the Governor General’s Medal for Excellence. His university education included degrees in philosophy, theology, sociology, and urban and regional development at St. Dunstan’s, Laval, and Ottawa universities. He spent much of his early career as a priest, and later became a policy advisor to government on such topics as the constitution, intergovernmental affairs, and Quebec and Aboriginal matters, and he was Premier Joseph Ghiz’s Constitutional Advisor for the Meech Lake and Charlottetown Accords. Now semi-retired, he and his wife Maureen live in Charlottetown.
Growing Up With Julie is his first book.
