Bud Ings was born in 1926 on his family’s farm in Mount Herbert, Prince Edward Island. He was educated at Prince of Wales College in Charlottetown before pursuing his degree in veterinary medicine at the Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph, ON. Upon completion, he returned to PEI and practised in Souris and Montague, and between 1952 and 1959 was the only professional veterinarian in King’s County.

He was a Liberal member of the legislative assembly in 1970, 1974, and 1978, serving as agricultural minister and later as health minister in the Alex Campbell government. Following his retirement from politics, he resumed his career as a vet and continues to work today. A long-time member of the Queens County Fiddlers, Bud has three daughters and two granddaughters. He lives in Montague with his wife Connie.

Mud, Sweat and Tears is his first book.
